Maria F. Chapman is a writer, editor, coach, and founder of Connected Ghostwriting, LLC. With a mission to help entrepreneurs and thought leaders articulate their ideas and expand their reach, Maria crafts compelling content that scales businesses and amplifies impact. Her writing explores the intersections of business, the art of writing, and living with chronic illness. She speaks on thought leadership, content strategy, and disability advocacy, inspiring audiences to create lives and careers that reflect their true values. She also writes fiction that features disabled protagonists, exploring narratives often underrepresented in literature.
Maria’s journey with words began at a white desk built by her father, where she first scribbled stories on lined paper. After earning a degree in elementary education, she pursued a 13-year career as a teacher and instructional coach specializing in literacy. However, life took a transformative turn when she was diagnosed with the neuromuscular conditions myasthenia gravis and chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy. Forced to medically retire from teaching, Maria reassessed her priorities and embraced a new path—turning her lifelong passion for writing into a career.
Her belief that "quitting isn’t failing; it’s choosing differently" led her to create a life centered on purpose, family, and advocacy. Maria’s business, Connected Ghostwriting, reflects her commitment to connection—helping clients align their content with their values while achieving professional fulfillment. Her work supports her family, employs a small team, and funds her ongoing medical needs, all while allowing her to work part-time and live fully.
Maria’s accomplishments include receiving an Author Fellowship from the Martha’s Vineyard Institute of Creative Writing in 2021.
In addition to her entrepreneurial work, Maria founded Journey 2 Success Inc., a nonprofit that supports disabled entrepreneurs in starting or scaling businesses that honor their health and life circumstances. Based in Middlefield, Connecticut, Maria enjoys hiking, skiing, and beach days with her husband and five children. Her life, while far from conventional, is deeply fulfilling—a testament to the power of resilience, creativity, and connection.
Through her writing, coaching, and speaking, Maria helps others find their voice, share their stories, and build meaningful lives. She believes that words can connect us to each other and ourselves—and that they hold the power to transform both individuals and businesses.
Maria resides in Middlefield, Connecticut. When she’s not coaching ambitious entrepreneurs and writers, crafting compelling stories, or diving into a good book, she can often be found on a hiking trail, a ski slope, or a beach, enjoying time with her husband, their five children, and a bat-eared rescue pup called Freddy.
